a seraph of snow
fallen on a feathery fir
gathers individual crystals
together in celebration
earthbound passengers
making their way
to the promised land
celestial showers sewn into
a single solid mantle
making all things new
nature's perfect parable
of that lofty human aim
atonement
the flakes fall and flock
clumping and congregating
until they melt into each other
at-one-ment
there is so much
we could learn from snow
In snow thou comest --
ReplyDeleteThou shalt go with the resuming ground,
The sweet derision of the crow,
And Glee's advancing sound.
In fear thou comest --
Thou shalt go at such a gait of joy
That man anew embark to live
Upon the depth of thee
~ Emily Dickinson
I love this poem. And Miss Dickinson:)
ReplyDeleteThe "thou[s]" Ms. Dickinson waxes poetic of... click.
ReplyDeleteSo weary of the seemingly unending puddles of "five miles wide, one inch deep" folks clever-ing their way through life these days...
PS~
ReplyDeleteA snowy Sarah McLachlan cover of a fave Gordon Lightfoot song.
